We love hearing stories from our family members and the community!! Today Mr. Patin (Camden's Dad) came over. He told us an amazing story of a time him and his father got lost in Alaska! We heard about being on the lookout for bears, dreaming of bacon, and having the courage and strength to KEEP GOING! Ask your child to hear more about this story!

What a fun afternoon we had! To start, Mrs. Sparks (Delia's grandmother) came in and lead the class in creating adorable, unique pumpkin-owls! The kids worked hard on their listening and making each of their owls different and creative! They came out wonderfully, and we really appreciate all the thought and time Mrs. Sparks put into this project!
Then, her husband, Mr. Sparks, met us outside on the playground. Someone had called Mr. Sparks (Sparks' Arc) because there was a Barred Owl who had been hit by a car this morning. After looking over the owl carefully, Mr. Sparks decided the owl was OK to be released to the wild. Which was so great was that he brought the owl right to our school so we could watch him release it!! Mr. Sparks, while holding the beautiful owl, told the kids about owls and then we got to watch him fly away! Thank you so much to Mr. and Mrs. Sparks for making today so wonderful!! Walter Lunt from the Windham Historical Society has done it again. He took our class, along with Mr. Miller's class, on an educational and interesting tour of our town! We learned a lot, got to explore, and even heard a couple ghost stories!!
Sometimes Mrs. Mansir forgets to upload pictures for a couple of weeks, and then puts them all together in one post!
Dr. Rhoads came in to read to us and talk about being role-models for the younger students! At one point, Dr. Rhoads needed a stretch break, and we all joined him! A big part of our writing program is sharing our work. This has been a special time to listen to classmates, ask questions about their writing, and give compliments. As part of the Global Read Aloud, we are Skypeing with Miss Dyer's class in Vancouver, Canada. Each Monday, we Skype and listen to either Mrs. Mansir or Miss Dyer read a couple chapters of The BFG. We will continue to collaborate with them on more projects, too! |
