Last week we were lucky enough to spend a day at St. Joes! Farmer Mike led us on a tour of the farm and pastures. He talked to us about seeds, growing food, and ecosystems. We even got to hide out in the greenhouse when it started to pour! Then Dean Brown and Coach Sanborn took us on a tour of the college. We saw where kids ate, studied, and read! Then... probably the highlight for many of the kids was LUNCH. We got to eat lunch in the cafeteria with the college kids!

Did you hear about the crazy wolf in our classroom who tried his HARDEST to blow down our houses? He tried and tried and tried but no luck! All seven of our STEM houses were successful!
We were lucky enough to be invited up to Manchester today to visit Mrs. Pelletier's 4th grade class. They had just finished studying Maine Native Americans, and they wanted to share their knowledge with us. It was great! They read us informative books they had written, shared stories, and they had even decorated their classroom to show us more about Native Americans. Then, we got to build Wigwams!
How lucky are we to have such wonderful families in our class?? Mrs. Sparks came in and helped the kids create some BEAUTIFUL Spring artwork!
On Thursday, we were lucky enough to attend a presentation by the 23 exchange students visiting Windham from Okinawa, Japan. They told us all about Japanese food, sports, school life, and more. I think our favorite part was when they wrote each of our names in Japanese!
Yesterday was a busy day for our class! We started the morning by signing the National Anthem over the intercom for the WHOLE school to hear! They did great!! In the afternoon, we got to exchange Valentines with our classmates! It was a great day!
Last week, Mr. Neal visited our classroom! He talked with us all about how he became a drummer! He talked about being in the band Boston, and some of the cool places he has played at! (He played at a Patriots game!) He was a great sport and answered lots (and lots and lots) of questions that the class came up with. ("Did you grow your hair out so you could whip it back and forth?") Thank you for visiting us!
Today we had a guest speaker from the Cromwell Center for Disabilities Awareness. She talked with us a lot about how we are all different, and we are also the same. This was us doing an activity with a lemon! We had to study one lemon, then try and pick it out from a group of lemons. It taught us that there are little things that make us unique, but we are all the same, too! |
